The Importance of saying "No"

I know I know! The other day I said, “Make your default answer “Yes”
Today I am talking about the importance of No! This is related to Photographers who are also Moms. We are superwomen…come on admit it! We manage the house, the biz, the kids, the hubby’s, the bills, the laundry, the groceries. Yes, we sometimes get help but how many of you feel guilty for that. I know I do at times. I start to feel like maybe I can’t do it all and you know what we can’t do it all perfectly. We need to get help, we need to delegate jobs, chores etc. We can still say yes to our clients but maybe that yes is not us personally handling it.

I found this on Mommytracked
“The Importance of Saying, ‘No.’ A Philadelphia CEO and mom told a group of female business owners that the way to achieve balance in one’s life is the simple ability to just say, “No.” During that same career seminar, another business leader — author and productivity expert Neen James — told the group, “The secret of super-productivity is not about doing more, it’s about doing more of what you love and getting rid of the waste.” (May 2007)

I love this! We do need to prioritize, delegate, outsource and just say “No” to overcommitment. Take an hour and go to the gym, have the babysitter stay an extra hour so you and your hubby can take a walk, instead of staying in on a Sunday trying to finish that one last edit take your kids to the zoo. They will be happier, you will be happier and you may even find some inspiration that will improve your business or photographs.

If all else fails send that edit job to shoot.edit They’ll edit and process your job so you can go to the zoo. Outsourcing your last job $375.00 seeing your little 2 year olds eyes light up when she sees the monkees priceless!

  • Remember the other Q&A videos? They were enieitarntng but kind of embarrassing. Because 75% of the questions were always stupid shit like what’s your inspiration or what are your favorite NES or SNES games , as if that hasn’t been asked to James a hundred times. So I hope Cinemassacre does these videos like this from now on; just cutting out the other stuff and showing the good parts. Also, I believe Pat being a douche is basically the intentional idea. And honestly, I think he is KINDA funny.
