I photographed $30K the other day in the studio. $30K in diamonds that is. I do a lot of event work for Govberg Jewelers and they asked if I could capture a diamond necklace they will be using in some ads for a charity they sponsor. I rarely ever do studio work because I love interacting with people and finding new and interesting places to shoot.
However, this shoot was very exciting. We plugged in some studio lights, turned them on and poof! a spark and a smell and we couldn’t use one of the lights and power packs. So , power pack number 2. A spark and a stinky smell. Out came power pack #3 and voila! It worked. of course, laying on the side of the studio was 2 power packs, 3 heads, a bunch of cables and a nice stinky smell. But the necklace didn’t mind.
Photographers: Always make sure you have plenty of equipment, just in case.
Clients: If you hire a great photographer they will always be prepared.
