New York Engagement session: Get to Know You session on Houston Street New York

Cindy and Brent love movies. They especially love sneaking sandwiches into the movie theater. She says she feels like a rebel bringing in contraband.

Cindy is a “closet” cabaret singer, she did do one show but she has an amazing voice and just never pursued it as a career. Do we have another Susan Boyle on our hands? Cindy is a natural performer, completely at ease in front of the camera. She has lots of energy but also very easy going. Really just a dream to work with.

Brent is more quiet, witty and reserved. I did not get to meet him until our Get to Know You (engagement) session and he was such a great sport. He was willing to do anything Cindy or I asked him to, even if he didn’t “get it”. What a good sport! By the end, he was much more relaxed and on the wedding day he just had fun with it. Of course, it helped that Cindy looked amazing on the wedding day.

Since they love movies we headed down to the Sunshine Cinema. It used to be the Houston Hippodrome and a vaudeville theater. The facade and marquee were restored to it’s original artistic roots. I drove past it one day last summer and knew I had to use it for a session. So glad it was theres. We then ventured up to the meatpacking district for some pretty light.

I love this image because of the guy walking by checking them out. I shot probably 10 of these images with people walking by and no one even bothered to look up. Everyone just kept going- typical New York! =) The other funny thing is when I was looking closely at the movies popping up in the background or the movies playing at the cinema, they are some of the most ironic things in the image. I mean who wants the shining in their engagement photos? HAH!

Hey, caught another guy checking them out!
