On Distant Shores, Rioult’s latest world premiere was debuted at the Joyce Theater back in June. I was lucky enough to be able capture it during dress rehearsal. On Distant Shores is a poetic fantasy about Helen of Troy’s imagined relationships with heroes of the a trojan War. My 6 year old thought she was a shark and each man was fish that she was eating. I think either interpretation works.
The dance was full of abandon and intimacy. I found myself moving with the music. Enjoy!
