This surprise marriage proposal designed by Brilliant Events was so much fun. The staff at Olivier Cheng, a premiere catering and events company in New York City pulled off this surprise beautifully. Edam, the soon to be groom, told his longtime girlfriend, Bita that he purchased a Gilt certificate for a private 5 course blind tasting dinner. The staff told her they were trying to promote their upscale private dining and I was there to take photos for their promotional materials. She suspected something was up but the waitstaff and Edam kept up the ruse. Blindfolded at the beginning of each course, they tasted select cheeses, short ribs, crabcakes and other amazing treats. The dessert was a delicate chocolate ball containing ice cream and cherries inside. Hot chocolate was dripped over the ball to reveal what was inside. Much to Bita’s surprise, a gorgeous ring was inside hers. After a heartfelt proposal, Bita with tears in her eyes hugged everyone saying it was perfect! Congratulations Emad and Bita!
