New York Wedding Photographer at the Philadelphia Franklin Institute

Sarah and Al’s wedding ceremony was held at the Arch Street Presbyterian Church, and their reception followed at the Philadelphia Franklin Institute.

This adventurous, travel-loving couple first met in Chicago four years ago, after reluctantly being set up on a short blind date by family.  They hit it off and so Al flew back to see Sarah just a few weeks later!  At the time, however, Sarah wasn’t able to commit to a long distance relationship, and tried to convince Al that the two shouldn’t date.  That’s when he knew she was the one!  Not one to give up, Al showed Sarah what she was missing over the next two years, as they’d meet up anytime he was in town.  In 2010, something finally clicked for Sarah, and when Al proposed to her last year on the same Chicago river bench where she had turned him down just three years before, she was thrilled.  “I’m a slow learner,” she joked.

Sarah LOVES McDonalds. So, of course, we had to go in and get a few pics.

In a nod to their Korean heritage, Sarah and Al also held a PaeBaek ceremony at the reception.  This is a traditional Korean bowing ceremony in which the bride and groom are dressed in traditional Korean wedding garb and bow in unison to pay respects to their elders.  It was also originally intended as way for the bride to honor the groom’s family as she is formally accepted into his family.
