Happy Mother’s Day!

Soo, I just celebrated my first mother’s day! Wow, sometimes I still can’t believe I am a mom. I wouldn’t trade it in for anything. Right now, Allie is so much fun…she has such a little personality and talk about being a flirt! She says mama too…what a nice present on Mother’s Day!

I thought it would be really nice to hear from a few moms! Two of my favorite moms wrote to me about their favorite photos from their daughters weddings and what it means to them…

I did both of her daughters’ weddings last year.

“These are the most poignant to me because they are the hands I first held and raised them with, and then had to struggle so hard to release them from…there are no words to express how much I enjoyed the gift of Motherhood and how much I miss the active part of it.”

“As mother of the bride, the wedding day arrived, filled with nervous excitement. My favorite photos captured the true joy of my daughter’s wedding as it happened. We both felt that it was our happiest day, and these shots reflect the wonderful excitement and happiness we experienced. I smile every time I look at these pictures! You captured the poignant moments beautifully. I am still amazed that you were able to get the shots that you did, without being seen! You made this day so memorable, and I am truly grateful for your time and talents.”

Stacy and Greg

The first wedding of the year was this past Friday, April 28, 2006. I met Stacy and Greg through a couple that I photographed last year. Alli and Barry had Greg as their best man and Barry ended up being Greg’s best man. It was a great wedding and the couple was fabulous. Stacy was the epitomy of cool, everyone else was more nervous than she was. Stacy looked gorgeous and that dress, wow! Stacy and Greg have a little boy, Dylan, who was so cute and so well-behaved….he almost stole the show. Their wedding was really intimate, about 60 guests at the Radnor Hotel. They had a beautiful day….warm, breezy, sunny. Check out a slideshow of pictures from their wedding. I’ll post a link to the online gallery when all their photos are online.

Sofia is the best. We had the most wonderful time at our wedding. We never even new she was there. Now we have the challenging task of selecting the photos for our album. Too many great choices!!!!!

This fall we are having Sofia take pictures of our son and we can’t wait!

First Anniversary!

Most of the year so far has been a lot of corporate events and a lot of catch up. All those wonderful weddings I did in 2005 are trying to finish up there albums before 2006 wedding season starts…which by the way is tomorrow….I wanted to wish Kristi and Ken a happy first anniversary! They were married last year on April 23, 2005 and it was an awesome wedding. They were an absolutely awesome couple and their entire family is great. I love when I get to be friends with my couples. I actually photographed her sister’s wedding last October in California and going out this September to photograph the first grandchild. No, K&K are not having kids…her older brother just had one.

enough about me…..Here’s a little history about Kristi and Ken….told by Kristi

“Ken and I met on the beaches of the Jersey Shore in the Summer of 2003 over July 4th Weekend.

At the time, Ken was living in South New Jersey and I was up in New York City. Our first real date (just he and I alone) was an 8 hour car trip to Pittsburg, PA for an all day music festival. After we finally got back to my apartment in Brooklyn after the 16 hours in the car and an entire weekend, we still had tons of stuff to talk about. That’s when we both knew we were each others “the one”.

Things moved pretty quickly after that and before I knew it, it was 10:14 on the evening of December 19th, 2003 and Ken was on his knee proposing to me in the Philadelphia 30th Street Station in front of the massive Christmas Tree, I of course thought he was tying his shoe. Once I figured out what was really going on, I said yes and made Ken the happiest man in the world.

From the flowers, to the trolleys, to the bag piper and the mummers, it truly was a magical day that will never be forgotten and we’ll always have our beautiful photos to remind us of it all.”

Shut Up and Dance

So this weekend was the 14th annual Shut Up and Dance. What is Shut Up and Dance? It is the annual fundraiser where dancers from the Pennsylvania Ballet choreograph and perform and all proceeds benefit MANNA. MANNA is a non-profit that delivers healthy meals to those living with HIV/AIDS.

Legend has it that the dancers wanted to do something to benefit all their friends and colleagues who had been stricken with HIV/AIDS and after much deliberation one dancer stood up and said “lets just shut up and dance”.

Sooo, for the last two years I have been honored to capture the performance on film and they seem to outdo each other every year.

Here are some highlights, I’ll post more as I process them.

Welcome

Sooo, welcome to my blog. I wanted a place where clients and future clients could see what was going on with Sofia Negron Photography and all the exciting stories and photos of all my great clients. I get to take photos of some great people and events and just wanted everyone to share in it. Lots of exciting things are coming up. This will not only be THE place to see photos and hear the stories behind these photos but also a resource for others. I’ll be having wedding and event experts giving out little tips, clips of great musicians that are available for events, former brides telling funny stories and advice, and just fun times. So sit back relax and enjoy.

to kick things off……….

I found this great program that makes web slideshows and what better model to test it out on than Allie…check it out… www.sofianegron.com/allie_march06

I also just photographed a party for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Art After 5 program. It was a joint fundraiser with Neiman Marcus to raise money for the program. It was at a home, yes someone actually lives in this place, with great food, beautiful models and surprise guests. Badgley and Mishka were there debuting some of their spring collection. Check it out, these dresses are gorgeous and the models are not to bad either…hehe
